Spiced Pepitas

The satisfying intense flavor of these spiced shelled pumpkin seeds, or pepitas, is the perfect example of ‘a little going a long way’. You won’t need too much to satisfy your hunger and they are very portable for a healthy snack on the go!

3 tablespoons

Ingredients

1½ tablespoons butter, unsalted

1 tablespoon brown sugar

1 teaspoon cumin seed, grounded

1½ cups pepitas

Instructions

  1. Combine butter, sugar and spice in a large skillet.
  2. Heat the skillet on low heat to melt the butter and mix it well with the sugar and cumin.
  3. Add the pepitas, and stir to coat evenly, about 1 to 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and cool.
  5. Serve as a snack alone or pair each serving with a piece of fruit or cheese.

Cooking Tip

Once you make a batch, store them in tightly sealed jar. You can use it as a topping for hot breakfast cereal, yogurt or even ice cream.
