Oven Fried Chicken
This “fried” chicken is healthy and easy to make. You’ll have something delicious to share with your friends or family.

3 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breast
¼ cup shortening
¼ cup margarine
½ cup wheat flour
1 teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F.
- Wash chicken and pat dry.
- Melt shortening and margarine in a 13 x 9-inch baking pan in the oven.
- In a medium bowl, mix flour, paprika, pepper and onion powder.
- Coat chicken pieces with flour mixture.
- Place chicken skin side down in the melted shortening/margarine.
- Bake uncovered for 30 minutes.
- Turn chicken and bake 30 minutes longer or until the thickest pieces are easily pierced with a fork.
Cooking Tip
Add low-sodium breadcrumbs to the flour mixture for added texture.
