No-Salt-Added Pizza

Ingredients

Ingredients for Dough 

½ package (1 ¼ teaspoons) dry yeast 

1 cup warm water 

1 tablespoon olive oil 

1 tablespoon sugar 

2 cups flour 

 

Ingredients for Sauce 

3 ounces no-salt tomato paste 

½ cup water 

¼ teaspoon garlic powder 

½ teaspoon oregano 

1 tablespoon sugar 

1 tablespoon olive oil 

¼ cup onion, chopped 

¼ cup green bell pepper, chopped 

½ pound ground beef, browned and drained 

6 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded

17 x 14-inch baking sheet 

Instructions

Instructions for Dough 

  1. Dissolve yeast in warm water. Stir in oil, sugar, and enough flour to make a soft dough. Stir 20 strokes.  
  2. Place in a greased bowl, turn dough to moisten all surfaces, cover and let rise in a warm place. 

Instructions for Sauce and Assembly 

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F. 
  2. Combine tomato paste, ½ cup water, garlic powder oregano, sugar, and oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer 5 minutes. 
  3. Grease a 17 x 14-inch baking sheet. Press dough onto sheet, stretching to edges. Cover with sauce. Top with onion, green pepper, beef, and cheese.  
  4. Bake 20 to 30 minutes until dough and cheese are golden brown.  
  5. Cut into 12 pieces. 

Cooking Tip

Choose lean ground beef to lower the amount of saturated fat.
