It’s great you are mindful of what you are eating! Potassium binders aid in absorbing the extra potassium in your gut from the foods eaten. So it’s actually very important that you continue to be mindful of your diet AND take potassium binders as prescribed. If you are feeling like you have been making a greater effort than before and your labs are trending in a desirable direction, it would be best to let your renal dietitian or nephrologist know. That way, you and your health care team can discuss your goals regarding your diet as well as potassium binder recommendations.
Why do I need to take potassium binders if I watch what I’m eating?
