Where can I get info on what to eat or not eat with CKD?

There are several reliable kidney disease resources available for general diet information; American Kidney Fund is one such resource. It is important to know which stage of chronic kidney disease you are in as it correlates to what estimated percentage your kidneys are still able to function. This determines whether you need to make any diet modifications, and what foods to modify. It’s best to follow up with your primary care provider or nephrologist, and to request for a referral to see a renal registered dietitian so that he/she can review your labs and your specific needs. In the earlier stages of kidney disease, diet modification can dramatically help slow down the progression of kidney disease. Once you find a renal registered dietitian to work with, you can also utilize the American Kidney Fund Kidney Kitchen website (http://kitchen.kidneyfund.org/) as a resource to build and explore menus and recipes.
