For Professionals

Is alkaline water harmful to my kidneys? I have kidney disease.

There have been no scientific studies that suggest whether alkaline water is beneficial nor harmful for humans. Perhaps you may have heard of a high-alkaline diet (low in acidic foods) which may be recommended for patients to balance the pH levels in their blood. But not all patients with kidney disease would benefit from this diet, so it would be best to consult with your doctor, and especially your renal dietitian for a recommendation that would be most suitable for you.
