Are spaghetti and organic milk considered bad for dialysis patients?

There are no bad foods for dialysis patients! Instead, it is all about learning how to eat your favorite foods as part of a kidney-friendly meal pattern. Spaghetti made with jarred tomato sauce can be pretty high in sodium. Try making your own sauce at home to control the amount of salt in the sauce. If you need to limit potassium, try to add just a little sauce to the spaghetti noodles. Any kind of cow’s milk (even organic) is pretty high in both potassium and phosphorus. Most people on dialysis should limit these nutrients and would benefit from limiting dairy to 1 serving per day. Or, you could try a milk substitute like almond or oat milk. Ask your dietitian what is best for you!
