Are frozen meals good for you?

There can be a place for frozen meals for those with kidney disease. The biggest concern with frozen meals is the sodium content. Check the Nutrition Facts Label for the sodium content aiming to keep the sodium content below 700mg per serving. Too much sodium increases thirst and thus fluid intake. High sodium has also been linked to increased blood pressure. While checking the Nutrition Facts label, also check the ingredients list for added sources of phosphorus. These are ingredients with “phos” in the name, and can increase phosphorus levels over time impacting skeletal health.
