Cream Cheese Cookies

Fun and easy holiday cookies to take to any holiday party!

Ingredients

1 cup butter, softened

3 ounces cream cheese, softened

1 cup sugar

1 egg yolk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2½ cups all-purpose white flour

16 ounces candied cherry halves

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Cream the butter, cream cheese, and sugar together on medium speed, until pale and fluffy, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  3. Beat in the egg yolk and vanilla. When incorporated, add the flour and mix until just combined. The batter will be crumbly.
  4. Chill dough for at least 1 hour.
  5. Shape dough into 1 tablespoon-sized balls and place on greased cookie sheets.
  6. Gently press a cherry half into each cookie.
  7. Bake for 14-16 minutes. Cookies should appear pale with slightly browned bottom edges.
  8. Cool cookies on pan for 1 to 2 minutes or until they can be moved without breaking. Transfer to a wire rack to cool for 30 minutes.

Cooking Tip

Tip: The candied cherries in this recipe can be substituted for other candied fruit such as lemon or orange peels.
