Watermelon Cooler

This terrific hydrating drink was developed by a pilates and yoga instructor for her clients.  It’s designed to maintain electrolyte balance on hot days when sweat can deplete you of salt and you feel wilted and sluggish.

Ingredients

1 grapefruit, small

2 cups watermelon chunks

8 ice cubes

1-1/2 cups water

pinch sea salt

1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

  1. Peel the grapefruit and maintain the white membrane. Separate into segments.
  2. Dice the watermelon.
  3. Process all the ingredients, except the sweetener, in a blender.
  4. Add honey, process for 15 seconds more.  Serve immediately. Enjoy!

Buy whole watermelon and cut up and store in a sealed container refrigerated. The fruit will remain crunchy for 3-4 days, and you can alternate for snacking plain, adding to summer salads and measuring to make this delicious cooler!
